Saving Water with the Air Conditioner

by Teresa
(Illinois)

When I run my air conditioner at home, I drain the condensation into a 25 gallon wet dry vacuum and I take the water outside in my empty plastic cat litter containers.

I then pour the water into a 50 gallon drum like a rain barrel. I use the water to water my garden. Sometimes I actually run out of space to store it.

I estimate that I save at least 75 gallons a week and I am probably under estimating. I also use the water to flush the toilet at times.

If every person just in my neighborhood did this, imagine how much water we could all save together.

I also get a lot of exercise just moving the water from one place to the other, lol.
